Kiyoshi Kuromiya was born in a Japanese-American internment camp during World War II and later moved to Philadelphia with his family. In the 1960s, Kuromiya became involved in the civil rights movement. Kuromiya became a prominent advocate for people living with HIV/AIDS after his diagnosis. He founded various organizations, including the Critical Path Project and ACT UP Philadelphia, to promote awareness, research, and treatment for HIV/AIDS. Kuromiya was also a talented artist and writer known for his avant-garde performances and multimedia installations. The essential element of our struggle is to make the revolution irresistible. We must have incorruptible organizers who will not sell out the people and will not betray the process. This is his famous quote.
